GUYS! Secret Mormon Temple videos!
As a person raised Catholic, I loooooove me some rituals, however this shit looks like a game show from Cremaster 2! What is with the recorded voices?
Oh man I kept forgetting to post this so I’m late to the party, but in case you missed it there is a dude on youtube posting videos of LDS Mormon Temple Rituals. This video is sort of a montage of various rituals (run time 7:43) but if you want to see the entire Temple Endowment Ceremony (run time 1:35:41) it’s right here. They were filmed using cameras smuggled into the SLC temple and are very strange, like a Dogme 95 project or something. Some LDS folks are QUITE UPSET and insisting that the rituals are taken out of context.
It’s definitely weird, but it’s also church and people of all religions are weird at church. Maybe I’m just super jaded out of my mind but this wasn’t even the weirdest thing I’ve seen in a church? First thing that comes to mind is Appalachian Pentecostal Holiness churches that mess with snakes and drink strychnine - but to be fair there’s only a few thousand people taking up serpents and the LDS Church claims to have membership over 14 million worldwide soooooooo

so one of my friends back home got this as a tattoo. There are two really funny parts about it. First Mormon is misspelled Morman, and second, there is a cross, which we do not use at all.
